Good Gentles All, the Baronies of Blatha an Oir and Dragon’s Laire invite you to Candlemas where we will have an All-Day-Long Feast and activities for all.

From Honorable Lady Halldora Bjorn:

Yes! You heard us right. We are planning a uniquely different Feast style… it’s an all day Feast with four small meals throughout the day. The Feast will focus on 14th Century Italian foods and each meal will be themed around the four seasons. Since dish washing facilities will not be available between courses, we are supplying dishes and cutlery for the Lunch and Mid-day Meal. Personal Feast Gear is encouraged for the Evening Meals.

Tentative menu, subject to change based on ingredient availability. “V” denotes Vegetarian Option Available. Additional allergen concerns will be listed on the pre-registration form.

Lunch Course – Autumn: Chicken with Orange Sauce, Leek & Onion Herb Soup (V), Frittata, Nucato (Candied Walnuts), Bread & Assorted Cheeses.

Mid-Day Course – Winter: Roast Pork with Plum Sauce, Seasoned Salad (V), Vermicelli (V), Garlic Torte (V)

Evening Course – Spring: Roulade (Beef Rolls), Saffron Rice (V), Mountain Mushrooms (V), Broccoli (V)

Dessert Course – Summer: Torta Communa, Dirola, Fresh Fruit

In addition to the amazing feasting, we will have activities for everyone.

Join Blatha an Oir’s Scribal officer for open scribal, there will be an assortment of classes (more details coming soon), and a sit down with the Coronets for those that might have interest in what being a coronet entails.

Once again, we are bringing back charity tournaments for both rapier and heavy fighters. The tournament encourages a donation, but is not required, for entry. The tournament donations will go to benefit the Rainbow Center.

Finally, we are having a Terrific Trios Largess Derby for all of our artisans. Please see below for more details!

Additional details regarding schedule will be coming soon.

In honor of Catlemas — er, Candlemas — we present to you…

The First (and Possibly Only) Medieval Cat Pic Contest!

We are searching baronies far and wide for the images that best exemplify the spirit of the most noble of creatures…the medieval feline. Playful, daring, and often utterly unrecognizable, this creature has graced (or perhaps tormented) many a household throughout antiquity.

And so we challenge the people of our baronies to compete for the honor of creating the best representation of the medieval cat! You need not be an artist–all that is required is a sense of humor and fun. Entries may come in the form of tracing, drawing, painting, macaroni art, whatever–as long as they are made by human hands (we request no AI be used).

The winners will be decided by a vote of the populace and announced at Candlemas Evening Court. There will be a small prize for the top 3 candidates to be handed out after court.

**The Rules**

All ages are welcome to compete!

You must create an image that could be said to resemble a medieval cat. [Labeling the cat is welcome and encouraged.]

Entries must be delivered to either Sibilia dell’Acqua or the Scribal Table at Candlemas by 12 pm to allow for contest set-up and voting. Supplies will be available at the Scribal Table for those who wish to create a last-minute entry. Voting will take place from 12:30-4 pm.

You need not be present to win. Those who need to submit an online entry can email Sibilia directly at blathaanoir.scribe@antir.org, via FB message, or text 253.289.4503.

Terrific Trio Largesse Derby

Are you one of the amazing artisans we have here in the great Kingdom of An Tir? We want you to come and join us for a Terrific Trios Largesse Derby. To enter, simply create three of a similar item to bring to the event. The winner will be chosen by populace vote. Entries will need to be present by noon for voting. One of the three items will be given to each Barony: Dragon’s Laire and Blatha an Oir. Winner gets first pick at an item from the derby. Each entrant will also get to choose an item from remaining options.
